Who we are

What we collect

When you join our list, we collect:

• your name, email address and town
• the things you tell us you're interested in
• your WhatsApp number and message, if you choose to add them
• the date you agreed to hear from us

Please don't include health or other sensitive details in your message. If you have allergies or dietary needs, we'll ask about them when you make a booking.

We also use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits. It doesn't use your personal information to identify you.

Why we use it

• to email you Root & Salt news, dates and recipes, as you asked
• to message you on WhatsApp about the things you ticked, if you gave us your number
• to reply to you if you asked about an event
• to understand which services people want, and where

We use your information because you've agreed to it. You can withdraw your agreement at any time.

Who can see it

We don't sell your information. Only the Root & Salt team and the service providers who help us run this website and our email can access it. They include Cloudflare, Google and Resend. These companies may store information outside South Africa, under their own data protection commitments.

How long we keep it

We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them for the reasons above. We keep a record of your unsubscribe request so that we don't contact you again.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or tell us to stop contacting you, by emailing hello@root-and-salt.com. If you're unhappy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
